Our planners obtained resource consent to undertake additions and alterations to an existing dwelling as well as retrospective consent for the conversion of an existing boat shed into a minor dwelling.

The proposal initially failed to meet the core standards relating to maximum height in relation to the property boundary. However, Council agreed that the positive effect of the applicant being able to provide for their economic and social wellbeing by upgrading their existing house and approved the consents. Furthermore, the proposal also resulted in the removal of previously unconsented private residential activities from public space, setting an example to further reduce the privatisation of public space in the future.
